Why are fans so passionate about AFL footy>

So why are fans so passionate about AFL footy?

I think there are 5 reasons why people really like their footy.

1. Tribal
People love belonging to a group. They get a deep sense of belonging by following their  team. The colours, triumphs & losses, team song all build connection and loyalty to a team. People long to belong. Footy helps meet that need.

2.  Skills
Players need high level skills to be successful in AFL. Skills like accurate kicking of the ball over long distances; marking the ball and effectively tackling opposition players. Such skills  make Aussie rules exciting.

3. Winter
Let's face it everyone prefers being indoors in winter.Whilst inside people therefore tend to spend more time watching sport on TV. As AFL telecasts have improved  so has the game's popularity.

4. Personal involvement
Fans get personally involved with Aussie rules through merchandise, tipping and dream team competitions. These diverse elements draw the fans into a deeper connection with tea, and the game in general.

5. Tradition
Passionate AFL fans love raising their kids in the grand traditions of going to the game, watching it on TV and wearing the team colours with pride.

So there you have it, 5 major reasons why fans are so passionate about AFL footy.
